BIOGRAPHY

Matthew is the voice behind literally thousands of radio and TV commercials, corporate videos and film narrations, and is currently voicing promos for Channel 9’s 60 Minutes.

He has spent more than 40 years working as an actor, director and writer and has acted in, or directed, nearly 100 plays in Australia, the UK and New Zealand.

Acting credits include many of the great Shakespeare roles (Hamlet, Richard III, King Lear, Prospero) and he has appeared with The Royal Shakespeare Company, Sydney Theatre Company, Nimrod St. Theatre, Globe Shakespeare Centre and many others.

He is the author of numerous stage and radio plays and five series (25 episodes to date) of The Hartley Manners stories for Radio New Zealand. He estimates he has appeared in about 1200 radio drama productions for Radio NZ and the ABC.

TV credits include Melba, Land of Hope, Sons & Daughters, The True Believers, La Boheme, Rafferty’s Rules, The Outsiders, The Schippan Mystery, Olive, Living With The Law, Water Rats, Blonde, Whipping Boy, A Street To Die, No Room To Run, Who Killed Dr. Bogle & Mrs. Chandler and The Prime Minister Is Missing.

He has made five short films – the latest Play on (2021) which he wrote, produced and directed and has won several international awards.
